There are many reasons for you to move to a new home, it could be a bad situation. It could also be a great opportunity. So, when you move you should know what to do and what to expect. This is important because through this you can anticipate what to do.

You need to look at the things in it though and making sure that you have done what you can to make your living conditions the best you can have.   1. DEEP CLEAN THE SPACE  

You should deep clean the space when you move into an old apartment. It is something that you would notice immediately. If you have carpets make sure to get it cleaned too as well as that there are no snags or damages to it. For uncarpeted floor, make sure that there are no broken tiles or parts of it.  

You should also look at the walls afterwards, make sure that the paint is cool and not chipped. If however, it is recommended to ask the landlord if you are allowed to paint over it and whatnot. If your apartment has wood in it, make sure that it doesn’t have a demolition team that isn’t human aka termites. Check for any damages in it as that is important.  

    2. SECURITY AND FUNCTIONALITY  

You should also think about the security and functionality of the security in your home. It’s important that you do it well and it is something that you should think about. Windows and doors should open and close without a hitch. It should have locks that work well and if needed you can change it to be more secure.  

Smoke detectors should also be functioning so, that you are warned if a fire has broken out in your apartment. You need a smoke alarm that works well because it might be the only thing that would save you from harm.  

     3. ELECTRIC CHECKS  

Now it’s time for you to check out the electricity of your apartment. The switches should be tried, the outlets should also be checked so that you know that all of them are working. Wires should also be checked to avoid electrocution.  

HVAC unit should also be checked in your apartment. You are renting and it is your right to get the best possible home you can find. So, in a way you should test it out to see what is wrong with it if there are any.  

     4. MOLDS  

Check for molds around the apartment, you don’t want to live in a space with molds that has been there for a very long time. You should make sure to get it out of there as it could trigger allergic reactions that you don’t want to.
